According to Fabrizio Romano, Arthur Melo has already agreed on terms for a permanent contract with Liverpool.

This week, Fabrizio Romano made a move to inform Liverpool supporters about Arthur Melo. Of course, the Brazilian is only on loan to the Reds through the end of the current campaign.

In June, Liverpool will have a €37.5 million buy option clause for Arthur. This clause is optional; Liverpool and Juventus have discussed the prospect of paying it in two years.

According to Fabrizio, This is true, as we now know. When Juventus confirmed the purchase on deadline day, they stated these details. If Liverpool decides to sign Arthur for long-term, they can spread the cost over two years.

What’s more intriguing is this

In the event that LFC activates the option, Arthur has already agreed to the potential future deal.

Liverpool ready to give Arthur Melo a permanent contract

If Romano is correct, Liverpool will be aware that they can have Arthur if they so choose. They spent time negotiating a contract, and it’s possible that he will stay with the team for a while.

Obviously, there is still a long way to go, but we have made some progress. According to early reports, Liverpool was unable to purchase Arthur. It now appears they have a contract in place and only need to activate the clause.

At first, we did believe Liverpool was using Arthur as a stopgap measure. Just someone to hold them over till a significant change happens next summer. That was how it felt at first.

But it’s obvious they do hold him in high regard. This is not a loan that was made on a whim. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have had to go through these negotiations on deadline day.

Arthur undoubtedly possesses the talent to obtain a permanent transfer. On his best days, he’s one of Europe’s best passers, and perhaps this week against Napoli, we’ll see that.
