Liverpool are reportedly in discussions to sign Dortmund’s young prodigy Jude Bellingham

Liverpool signed Luis Diaz for £49 million in the last transfer window, bolstering their forward line. The next area that needs to address is the midfield. Liverpool may see Bellingham as the perfect addition to the squad in midfield.

The Reds have been looking shallow in the midfield. In fact, their lack of control in matches has been well documented. Since the departure of Wijanldum, Liverpool have been a bit suspect in midfield. Thus, a marquee addition would improve play by leaps and bounds.

Liverpool in talks with Bellingham

Liverpool have sufficient backup in defence (other than a second choice right back). They are stocked in attack as well, provided they deal with contracts. The only position that needs significant addressal is the midfield. Liverpool lacks a midfield engine, who can slot beside Fabinho when needed and keep the ball moving. The Reds’ have some options in that area, but due to injuries and a plain of quality have failed to convince onlookers.

There is a good chance that James Milner will leave the club in the summer. Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract would be in the final year of their contract as well. Add in the dipping form of Jordan Henderson, and you get trouble brewing. The Reds do have long-term prospects in Harvey Elliot, Curtis Jones, and Tyler Morton but they need players who can hit the ground running.

The Reds tend to go for young players with high potential, who are mid-to-long term signings. The FSG model relies on excellent coaching that brings out the best in available resources. Well, Bellingham can already add value to the team.

Jude Bellingham has already shown his class in the Bundesliga, and the fact that he can play across multiple positions, just add to the allure. Thus, there is some space for another major signing in an important position. Liverpool might be able to sign Bellingham, provided there are some sales.

Bellingham has shown interest in a move to Merseyside, as evidenced by Liverpool’s talks with Mark Bellingham (Source, indykaila).

He would slot in nicely too; Liverpool might have a song ready for him as well (Hint: Think of a Beatles’ song)
