Thiago Alcantara is set to miss six weeks of Liverpool training as the midfield problems continue

Liverpool will need to cope without Thiago Alcantara, as the midfielder is set to miss at least six weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Injuries to Liverpool players have just come at the wrong time, as Thiago Alcantara now joins the list of the Reds’ absentees. The injury-plagued midfielder started alongside Fabinho and Henderson in the midfield against Fulham last weekend but was forced out at the 51-minute mark.

After the game, Jurgen Klopp admitted that Thiago’s condition did not look promising, describing the injury as “not good.”

Moreover, according to the Athletic’s James Pearce, Thiago is set to miss up to six weeks, as scans are now being done. The Liverpool No. 6 won’t be available for selection until the mid of September.

However, the club has refused to put a timescale for the playmaker’s recovery. As they believe a scan later this week will prove helpful in determining the length of Thiago’s absence.

With Thiago’s latest injury, Klopp’s midfield options are surely concerning. Players such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones are also sidelined with serious injuries, furthermore, Keita was out of the squad for Fulham due to illness.

The latest Thiago injury raised the question of whether Klopp should go for reinforcement in the middle of the park as the transfer window is open until 31st August. However, Klopp previously claimed all of the club’s transfer dealings were finished for this window.
