LFC goalkeeper Adrian could leave Anfield in the January transfer window, according to ESPN.
The reports have claimed that Caoimhin Kelleher is currently the second-choice goalkeeper for the Merseyside giants behind Brazilian international Alisson. The former West Ham United player could leave in the middle of the season.
Adrian LFC the end of the love story?
But although it is very hard to believe that the English giants will let their former second-choice goalkeeper go especially as soon as January. The 35-year-old Spaniard is currently the third-choice goalkeeper at Anfield. But the German head coach does understand the importance of squad depth.
Liverpool is a team that already lacks squad depth compared to its competitors. The goalkeeper is a key player in any team. He is the backbone of the team’s success. The backbone also sometimes need support, that is the reason why every team has at least have 3 goalkeepers to participate in all format of the game.
The Spaniard’s last two years’
Adrian joined Merseyside in the 2019-2020 season from West Ham at the age of 32. The ex-West Ham player has played 11 matches and saved 63.05% of the shorts on target in the starting season.
In the follow-up season, he played only 3 matches and had a 50% save percentage, According to FBref.
Adrian is out of contract at Liverpool in the summer of 2023. This makes the transfer very unlikely to happen. The English giants would hardly get something of a transfer fee for the 35-year-old goalkeeper in the January transfer window. This would be a very unlikely move from Liverpool.
Adrian has made 139 appearances in the Premier League so far in his carrier, out of which he kept 38 clean sheets in the process.
Will the Spaniard be able to claim back his second position in the team or its time to say goodbye?
