The recent victory against Aston Villa might have been remarkable for Slot however, fans were quick to spot Szoboszlai missing.
As Liverpool took up a 2-0 victory and achieved the top position in the Premier League, Dominik’s absence created a buzz immediately. Something is definitely off with his performance, and here’s how it has changed under the new Manager.

Dominik Szoboszlai has shifted his shooting after Slot arrived in Liverpool
While Jurgen Klopp was in Anfield, the Hungarian left fans spellbound with long ranged strikes and hard runs. Last season, 43/60 shots came from outside the box, which proves his ability to conquer longer range.
However under Slot, Liverpool are playing under a different strategy which is a small hurdle for Szoboszlai. The Reds spend more time in possession of the ball till there’s a decisive forward pass.
Once the rivals start to pressurize, forwards can utilize the spaces in the final third. As a result, there are less number of shots from a closer distance within the goal.
Dominik is shooting from a lower range, with a higher quality of his chances of scoring. Before Slot and his squad went up against Ipswich, Szoboszlai spoke about the goalless situation.
“I can score more goals, I can give more assists, but I am doing the ‘dirty job’ as well for the team and that is the most important thing to me. While we are top of the league and I don’t score any goals, I’ll take it.”
He is tall but quick; apart from leading a 4-4-2 formation, he can rush into the box and score as a second striker. Against AC Milan, Szoboszlai rushed into the box half a second late, which gave him more space to convert once the ball comes in.
Under Slot, Szoboszlai is slowly gaining his ground. He is intelligent enough to track the ball back after dropping off in the face of intense attacks. Contrary to the Klopp era, the 24-year-old is creating valuable chances consistently. These can ultimately turn into remarkable goals.
