The first-choice keeper for Southampton Aaron Ramsdale is likely to miss the Liverpool clash when the Reds visit Southampton later this month.
The Premier League’s best and worst take on each other as the Reds visit St. Mary’s after the international break. Aaron Ramsdale is likely to miss the game due to a finger surgery.
Ramsdale was one of the eight players who pulled out of the England squad ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
Will Aaron Ramsdale play in Southampton vs. Liverpool?
According to The Athletic Ramsdale will undergo surgery to fix a suspected fractured finger this week. It is yet to be confirmed how long he will be out.
Southampton currently sit bottom of the Premier League with just 4 points and losing Aaron Ramsdale would be a huge blow.
With second-choice keeper Gavin Bazunu already injured, 34-year-old Alex McCarthy would be in line to start. McCarthy has only featured once since August, he did appear in the championship for Southampton as they earned promotion.
Liverpool expect Elliot, Alisson, Chiesa, and Jota to be available for the Southampton clash. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold will likely miss the game.
Apart from Aaron Ramsdale, Southampton could miss forwards Ryan Fraser and Ross Stewart as well as midfielders Will Smallbone and Flynn Downes.
Ramsdale joined Southampton from Arsenal at the end of the transfer window for £25 million, but he has managed to keep only 1 clean sheet in 10 games conceding 21 goals.
