According to the sources, Liverpool are tracking RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol for a potential transfer move this summer.

The Merseyside giants are expected to have stiff competition from other clubs to sign this rare Croatian talent.

Josko has recently signed a five-year deal in September 2022 but he has been linked with a summer move away from his current club Leipzig.

The Croatian international has shown his class in the Bundesliga and also had a great World Cup campaign. The RB Leipzig defender has played 20 games in the Bundesliga where he has been rock solid at the back.

Ben Jacobs on Josko Gvardiol to Liverpool

The journalist Ben Jacobs said

“Liverpool are tracking Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, who Chelsea almost pre-agreed a deal for last summer.”

Jacobs further added saying

“The Croatian scored against Manchester City in the Champions League and is attracking plenty of interest, including from Pep Guardiola’s side as well as Real Madrid and PSG. There is a £98M buyout clause, but it doesn’t become active until summer 2024.

I am told Gvardiol wants a Premier League move and the notion he’s picked Real is incorrect. He’s also on record as saying Liverpool are his ‘dream club’ because he watched many of their games with his dad when younger.”

This could be a match made in heaven for Josko and Liverpool, the Reds need to restore their defensive strength and the Croatian international could be the perfect addition alongside the Holland international Virgil van Dijk.

But the Merseyside club have to face competition against the Premier League club and the European giants. Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid are also frequently linked with the 21-year-old World Cup semifinalist.

Meanwhile, recently the Reds lost their transfer target Enzo Fernandez due to their lack of financial pull in the transfer market. But this time the club owners are expected to back the German genius in the transfer window.

The Reds need to make this transfer happen otherwise it will lead to another disastrous season.
