Liverpool manager Arne Slot has dropped his verdict on the options that Liverpool currently have at the left-back position for the remainder of the season.
The Reds have long-serving defender Andy Robertson and Greek international Kostas Tsimikas vying for the left-back position this term but Robertson has come under scrutiny for his performances and at 28 years old, many do not see Kostas Tsimikas as a long-term replacement for the Scot.
Both have equally had to jostle for game time as neither has proved to be completely reliable and a better choice for the position throughout the season so far.

Slot’s verdict on Liverpool left-backs this season
While speaking in his press conference ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Ipswich Town, Slot was asked whether his left-back rotation is down to managing workload or because Kostas Tsimikas’ level has improved this season.
And the manager had this to say:
“I think both. If Kostas was on a completely different level than Robbo [Andy Robertson] then it would not be smart to rotate in that position or manage the load because then you drop so far in quality that it could be a risk.”
He also added:
“I don’t know what Kostas situation was last season, I know he didn’t play a lot but from the moment I came and in our tour in the United States, he did really well. He’s proved that he can play in the left full-back position as well. Since we’ve now got two good options, in my opinion, you can indeed see we are managing loads and rotate in the position quite a bit.”
According to the manager, he believes that the options he has in Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are very good and he is making use of them by managing their workloads and also, rotating quite a lot between the pair.
Although, the Reds are said to be keeping a close eye on Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez to strengthen the left-back position, Slot has taken a stance that he is indeed happy with his options.
Liverpool do not seem likely to bring in anyone with the transfer window nearing its end and therefore, any deal for the Hungarian talent or any other options for the position may have to wait until the end of the season.
