Even though there was some initial doubt Hughes made a wise choice in bringing Slot on board as he fits in nicely with the teams’ current roster and philosophy.
Richard Hughes: The master-mind behind Liverpool
Hughes received praise for his astute sales tactics that resulted in sizable revenue in addition to signing Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Hughes influence goes beyond his present position the Premier League is still affected by his tenure as technical director of Bournemouth.
During his time there he shaped a club strategy that continued to succeed long after he left and made outstanding player acquisitions and high-profile sales.
Although he faced criticism for his contentious choice to replace Gary ONeil with Andoni Iraola his confidence in Iraola’s abilities paid off.
After finishing two spots ahead of ONeil’s Wolves in the Premier League Bournemouth scored their highest-ever number of points in the competition.
The Cherries have shown tenacity and drive this season carrying over their success from last year under Iraola.
The English legend Alan Shearer told in The Rest is Football Podcast,
“Leading up to the game this week, he would have been hoping and praying to come away from Bournemouth with three points,“
Hughes will get the chance to see firsthand how his current and former clubs are doing under the managers he supported when Bournemouth comes to Anfield.
This will demonstrate his ability to make decisions that have a significant impact and improve the teams he works with.
