Reports: Liverpool set to sign the 26-year-old on free transfer soon

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a potential summer move for soon-to-be free agent Daichi Kamada.
The current Frankfurt star’s contract expires in the upcoming summer, meaning that he can leave as a free agent at the end of the season.
Why Daichi Kamada?
The 26-year-old has played 17 matches in the Bundesliga where he scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists. He has an expected xG of 4.8 with a progression PrgC of 26.
The Frankfurt star has also featured four times for Japan at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, helping them qualify from the group stages.
Many clubs are looking to sign the Japanese star, the Reds being one of them. Apart from the Merseyside giants, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in his signature, while Barcelona, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund are all admirers of the Japan international.
The Japanese’s usual position is attacking midfielder but he has played the majority of his minutes in a deeper role this year and is also capable of playing on the wings. The Reds need a versatile player who can play in different positions based on the opposition thus, also dealing team’s injury crisis.
Liverpool’s need for a midfielder
Thiago Alcantara is the player who plays the advanced role for Merseyside but most of the time he is unavailable due to his injury issues.
This year the Spaniard has missed 17 games so far for the Merseyside club due to a knee injury. His injury has largely affected the English giant’s midfield. The six-time Champions League winners have lost all the dominance in the middle of the park and their ball progression has also been affected by it largely.
If Kamada was present on the Red’s side at this moment, Klopp would have definitely been in a much better position. The current Frankfurt player has an xG+AG of 0.49 and a PrgP of 76, despite playing not in his usual position according to FBref.
Liverpool needs to sign a midfielder as the financial race for Jude Bellingham is still uncertain and if the Reds could manage to sign Daichi for free it will be a blessing for the Merseyside club.
