According to TNT Sports, Liverpool is one of the teams looking to sign Bruno Guimaraes.
Guimaraes’ deal with the Magpies expires in 2026. And the Reds are the newest team to enter the fight to sign him. It is believed that Real Madrid and Chelsea are also interested in recruiting the Brazilian. And the latter has reportedly sought him this past summer when Casemiro left.
Midway through the previous campaign, Newcastle bought Guimaraes from Lyon for £35 million. And ever since, he has proven to be a crucial member of Eddie Howe’s squad.
Newcastle is getting ready to offer Guimaraes a new contract. And clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Madrid keep an eye on the issue. With the new idea, he would receive a pay raise and join the long-term project.
However, the source warns that if the player rejects the offer, there would be a fierce battle for his signature the following summer.
The midfielder’s valuation on Transfermarkt is £45 million. Although it is unclear what kind of price would convince Newcastle to sell.
Bruno Guimaraes unlikely to join Liverpool
Guimaraes has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, so it is not surprising to hear that he has been linked to prestigious organizations like Liverpool.
He is excellent at passing and has also proven to be a capable tackler. He is a crucial player for Howe because he consistently wins middle-of-the-park duels.
Due to the recent increase of injuries to Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Thiago, Liverpool desperately needs midfield reinforcements. The ability of Klopp’s midfield to manage the game has been one of his team’s strengths over the past several seasons. But although Klopp’s team has struggled this season. Unfortunately for the Merseyside team, that hasn’t been the case this year. Thus Liverpool might be strongly considering acquiring Guimaraes next summer.
However, Newcastle would not be willing to part with the Brazilian international without a whopping offer. Guimaraes will likely stay at St James’ Park for the foreseeable future because his contract with his present club doesn’t expire until 2026.
