Enzo played a crucial part in Argentina’s World Cup triumph. While registering a brilliant goal and an assist to his name, he was a constant threat in the opposition’s half. Moreover, Fernandez was also awarded the Best Young Player award in the World Cup.
Paying 120 million Euros is the only way of getting Enzo Fernandez: Benfica president
The Argentina international is on the radar of some top European giants. Every club wants a strong midfielder like him. Chelsea, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United are the clubs said to be in the race at the moment.
However, Benfica’s president has made it clear he won’t settle for anything less. He further said that Enzo is wonderful and has a lot of potential so they won’t give him away for anything low. Rui Costa said:
“We will sell Enzo Fernandez in January only for the €120m (£106.2m) clause. We would not like to sell Enzo Fernandez in January, but we are willing to satisfy the boy in the event of an offer of €120m.”
Furthermore, he added that if the requirement will not be fulfilled he will not sell the player. Enzo has a deal with Benfica till 2027.
Chelsea and Liverpool – The most interested clubs
The Eagles’ manager Roger Schmidt has talked with Enzo about his future. He said it’s up to Enzo where will he play. Furthermore, Roger added that he will respect whatever decision the Argentine takes.
Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea and Liverpool are ahead in the race. They are willing to pay the massive fees of 120 million Euros for the 21-year-old. The Premier League giants are both keeping an eye on him and trying to have a talk with his representative.
However, it is said that the Blues are one step ahead of the Reds as they have already initiated the talks. It was reported that Chelsea are willing to pay the fees in installments. On the other hand, Liverpool needs to decide between the Argentine and Jude Bellingham for their top transfer target this winter.
