Fabrizio Romano gives fresh update on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s transfer and contract situation

The contract situation of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool is turning into soap opera no Reds fan wanted but can’t stop watching.

The 25-year-old star, one of the best right-backs in the world, still has not put pen to paper on a new deal, leaving fans biting their nails as the clock ticks down to the summer. Meanwhile, the vultures – ahem, I mean clubs are circling.

Real Madrid, of course, are first in line, eyeing the possibility of snapping up the Scouser for free when his contract expires. Apparently, they have had multiple chats with his representatives, trying to lure Trent to Spain with promises of more trophies.

Romano thinks Alexander-Arnold will stay at Liverpool

But despite all the noise, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Madrid are not negotiating with Trent. Not yet, anyway. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said:

“Since March, the situation has not changed. Real Madrid maintain their interest in the situation of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

What I’m told is that today, Real Madrid are not negotiating with Alexander-Arnold – they are not discussing terms of a contract, salary, or project.

We’re not in the advanced stages of the story, but the interest of Real Madrid is something that has been mentioned for months.

To see what’s going to happen this summer depends on Liverpool because they have the priority and are talking to Alexander-Arnold, and we will see what they decide together.”

Trent in high demand!

The responsibility, for now, lies firmly with Liverpool. The club is working hard to secure a new contract for Alexander-Arnold, reportedly ready to bump up his £180,00 per week wages closer to Mo Salah’s £350,000 per week deal.

It is not just Real Madrid sniffing around. PSG and Bayern Munich have joined the party too, as if Liverpool did not already have enough to worry about. To make matters worse, Trent’s bond with Real Madrid’s new golden boy, Jude Bellingham, has set off more alarm bells.

The two have built quite the friendship during their time with the England squad. And Real Madrid seem more than happy to lean into this bromance as a possible selling point.
