Liverpool vs Man City: Player Ratings

Goal Keepers and Defenders

Alisson Becker (GK) – 9/10

One safer save from a header that was mercifully straight at him. One good stop from a one-on-one when he stood tall.

Milner (RB) – 9/10

Straight back, in charge. Congratulations to James Milner, who many would have been quite anxious about in this position before the attack.

Joel Gomez (CB) – 10/10

With the exception of one or two instances, like when Haaland beat him for a header, he fought well. Read ran well, made the best tackles, and maintained a good position.

What a perfect time to release his best game in years. Man of the match when seen in context to Haaland and the circumstances.

Virgil van Dijk (CB) – 10/10

a great deal more perseverant and conscientious than in earlier games. Incredibly reliable in his judgment. When we needed him most, he was at his most significant.

Andy Robertson (LB) – 9.5/10

After roughly 30 seconds, back from the hospital and pushed people around. It’s great to have Robbo back and working so hard.

played great against Joao Cancelo and kept the fans enthused. And won in every encounter.

Midfielders

Elliot (CM)- 8.5/10

He had some solid building opportunities and nice passes in the last third. And even the occasional chance to shoot. Overall, a fantastic outing.

Thiago (CM) – 9/10

was crucial to our aggressive start, thanks to his probing deep balls, determination to maintain possession under pressure, and fast tackle abilities.

Fabinho (CM) – 8.5/10

Much better than recent games, with more second balls won and fewer runners being allowed unrestricted access to our soft center.

A bit of a lazy yellow for his trip on Ilkay Gundogan. But it’s understandable that he wasn’t allowed to continue.

Forwards

Mohamed Salah (RW) – 9.5/10

Salah, a center-forward! Early on, there was excellent movement, combination play, and some frenetic pressure and high-upfield tackling. He would be in far better positions to receive the ball and have less deep defensive work to complete.

Roberto Firmino (CF) – 8.5/10

It wasn’t his day in front of the goal this time. But Bobby still put up a really good, crucial effort.

Diogo Jota (LW) – 9/10

The open-play passes that Jota produces aren’t always great. And this has occasionally cost them chances. But most of the time, they came about due to the Portuguese people’s work ethic.

Substitutes

Darwin Nunez (CF) – 7/10

After we took the lead, Honey badged his way through the defense many times for a close-range shot or to draw a foul. And he also led the counterattack. We had to play a pass right away when we were three-on-one.

Fabio Carvalho (CM) – 8/10

Fair play for stepping up and having the bottle he showed for such a young man in this situation!

Jordan Henderson (CM)- 8/10

won the ball, cleared the area, and covered Milly. Precisely what was necessary was done, even telling Darwin to get a pass on it.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) – 7/10

It’s good to see him back; he almost scored late.

Kostas Tsimikas (LB) – N/A

Didn’t get much to play.
