Here’s what Tottenham Hotspur coach, Ange Postecoglou said on shock Liverpool exit from the FA Cup after falling to a 1-0 loss at lowly Championship side Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the competition. The Spurs manager also connected the defeat for the Reds and has likened it to the situation he currently faces at the London club.
Tottenham Hotspur are currently on a horrid run of form in the Premier League and across other competitions this season.
The Lily Whites currently sit in 14th position in the Premier League log and have lost their last 2 matches to Premier League opposition in cup competitions.
Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup on Sunday by bottom-placed Championship side Plymouth Argyle, in what was one of the shocking results from a packed weekend of English Cup action.
Tottenham Hotspur also crashed out of the competition on Sunday, going down 2-1 to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
After the loss, Ange Postecoglou, while speaking, on his team’s injury woes this season, likened Spurs to the Reds who fell short earlier in the day in the FA Cup.

What did Postecoglou say on Liverpool vs. Plymouth Argyle?
To emphasize his club’s injury struggles this term, Postecoglou drew a comparison to Liverpool, who suffered a defeat to Plymouth Argyle, currently at the bottom of the Championship log.
Arne Slot made 10 changes to the team that defeated Spurs 4-1 in the second-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final just a few days prior.
The Tottenham boss compared the two teams, stating:
“If you remove nine, ten or eleven players from any team for a weekend, I believe it would have an impact; we have been dealing with this situation since mid-November. Now, let me ask you this: if you take 11 players out of Liverpool’s lineup, how did they perform today?” He also added: “we are not talking about one or two players – and it is not just for one weekend. Now imagine Liverpool having to manage that for the next two and a half months.”
The Greek manager’s remarks have sparked significant reaction on social media, with a lot of football fans seeming to agree with his perspective although others did not take too kindly with his words, claiming that the manager is only making excuses for his team’s abysmal and highly inconsistent performances this season.
Postecoglou is currently going through a lot of pressure at the helm and has come under intense scrutiny for the way his team have been performing this term.
Many have called for the manager to be sacked and replaced but he admits that injuries have limited him and his side from being effective and efficient throughout this term.
Christian Romero, Udogie, Timo Werner, Mickey van de Ven, Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, Vicario, James Maddison, Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson and Radu Dragusin are all presently sidelined due to injury.
