Pep Guardiola was furious in the press conference following Manchester City’s win over Tottenham Hotspur, while mentioning the Citizen’s rivalry with Liverpool.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola made a point about Liverpool as he issued an X-rated response to those who claimed his side cannot be considered a ‘success’ until they win the Champions League.
City vs Spurs
The Sky Blues bounced back in style after a shocking defeat in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford. City were 2-0 down in the first half against Spurs. But the defending champions responded after the interval with Riyad Maharez’s brace completing their comeback after Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland struck to restore parity just eight minutes into the second half.
After this intense game, Pep expressed his feelings in press conference
“This is a challenge, I want it, I expect that, I see the team do it but there is detail.”
The Spaniard also said
“It’s not about the way we play, the quality of the players, are you going to judge them? I love them.”
This recent win takes City to within five points of Arsenal, whose lead could be cut short before they host third-placed Manchester United on Sunday, at 4.30 PM (GMT).
Pep Guardiola on comparing City’s success alongside Liverpool
Pep was furious when his team’s success was compared to Liverpool’s. He said
“They’re fantastic players. They are the details, it come from the success we had in the past. We have to admit it. We had success, people say,’ we haven’t had success because we haven’t won the Champions league’- Bulls**t! we won a lot.”
The Sky blue manager also said
“We won a lot. In this country, two back-to-back(PL) in this country, and the way we played, the consistency, against this Liverpool…what a success “
The rivalry between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola is iconic. This rivalry began back in the time when Pep was managing Bayern Munich and Klopp was managing Borussia Dortmund.
Both the managers met head-to-head 27 times. Guardiola won 10 times, on the other hand, Klopp won 12 times and both of them went through 5 draws.
