Liverpool have gained a huge boost this season with Arne Slot as their Manager and now, Paul Joyce has something to say.
The journalist has recently updated us with some important updates regarding how Slot gained this position. It’s mainly because some fans think that he was never the first choice for the role.
Paul Joyce issues a statement about Arne Slot and a dig at Neville
The Merseyside club are flying high under the Dutchman by climbing up the Premier League ladder. However, a section of the Reds must hear the absolute truth about him.
That’s why Paul Joyce had to stand up and make a clear statement about Arne Slot and his managerial debut. Liverpool’s current boss has placed the team in the 1st position in the PL with a solid 25 points. They even dominated the Champions League with a 4-0 victory over Leverkusen on 5th November.
When it came to the managerial search overseen by Liverpool’s director of football, Richard Hughes, one of the ticks against Slot’s name was that he had experience of winning — and against tough, well-resourced rivals.

Recently, The Times journalist publicly stood up to Gary Neville and his knowledge after Liverpool. As Paul Joyce said, Arne Slot was always a key choice for becoming the new manager. Richard Hughes, LFC’s Director of Football was behind the selection scenes.
Before Anfield, Slot was a successful manager at Feyenoord. He knows how to rise against strong opponents like Ajax and PSV Eindhoven. Under Slot, Feyenoord destroyed Ajax with a 6-0 victory, thanks to his tweaks and tactics.
Paul Joyce said his experience of winning against the toughest rivals made Hughes consider Slot as a top choice. Both Eindhoven and Ajax were a challenge for Feyenoord, just like how Man City and Arsenal are a threat to Liverpool. No matter how much Neville tries to sell inaccurate stories, it’s not the truth.
‘The reality is that Slot was the only coach to whom Richard Hughes, director of football, offered the job, regardless of what Gary Neville may suggest he knew.’
