Virgil Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mo Salah are all in the final years of their contract and now Paul Joyce has given an update.
Still key players for the club, fans are worried that they will lose three of their best players on a free next season.
Van Dijk, Salah, and Trent are not close to agreeing on new contracts
Paul Joyce of the Times described the situation as being at a “continued impasse”.
“There has been contact between the club and the representatives of all three players (Van Dijk, Trent, and Salah), but talks have not found common ground.” Joyce added.
Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph wrote: “reaching an agreement which suits all parties has so far proven difficult”.
Speaking to the media Virgil Van Dijk said: “At both teams, I am still Virgil van Dijk, the big leader, and I certainly want to remain that for the next two years.”
Unlike Van Dijk, Salah and Trent did not reveal much when asked about their future.
Trent speaking to the media in September: “I have always said I want to captain the club. That is a goal of mine, whether that happens is out of my hands. I want to be a Liverpool player this season (as a minimum) is what I will say. The most important thing is always trophies. I want to win trophies.”
Salah speaking to Sky Sports after Manchester United game: “Nobody in the club talked to me yet about contracts, so I’ve said ‘OK, I’ll play my last season and in the end we’ll see’.”
