Kokcu might reunite with Slot in the Liverpool squad

Merseysiders might approach the Lisbon club especially after what Orkun had to say about the new Anfield Boss. However, it is all up to Benfica if they will want to sell him to the Premier League giant in 2025.

Kokcu was praising Arne Slot, while talking about the new Liverpool manager, as Record, the Portuguese outlet has reported.

“He made me the player I am today. He is the best coach in the world.”

The duo spent some time while Slot was the manager of Feyenoord and Orkun was a part of his squad. Under the Dutchman, he made 96 appearances for his team, with 14 assists and 21 goals under his belt.

Since Kokcu contributed in winning the Eredivisie, his reunion with Slot might be possible in near future. For Benfica, the Turkish scored 4 times in his 15 appearances.

As FBRef reports, Orkun is in the top 1% for assists (0.45) and non-penalty goals (0.32). He is in the top 2% for shots (2.53) and has a 0.2 non-penalty xG per game. Kokcu belongs to the top 3% for creating shots per match (4.7).

Although all these rankings are among midfielders of the continent’s five main leagues, the 23-year-old is an efficient footballer.

It will be interesting to see Liverpool try to sign Kokcu to be a part of the Red squad under Slot. According to Record, Estadio La Luz has valued Kokcu at £66.9m and a hefty transfer fee of £125.5m.
