“Three beautiful years”- Insua on his time at Liverpool

The former Liverpool player and living legend Emiliano Insua reminiscing his memories ahead of the Reds clash in the Champions League.

Liverpool will travel to Spain to face Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday evening. The Reds are sitting at the top with 6 points and Rojoblancos are at second with 4 points.

Thus, it is an important match for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they’ve been knocked out earlier by Diego Simeone’s side.

On this occasion, Mundo Deportivo sat down with former Liverpool and Madrid man, Emiliano Insua to give his verdict on the match.

The Argentine signed for Liverpool in 2007 from Boca Junior. After spending three seasons with The Reds and a long-season loan with Galatasaray, Insua signed for Sporting CP. Thereafter, the Argentine finally moved to Madrid and signed for Rojoblancos.

As of now, the 32-year-old currently plays for the Argentine side, Club Atlético Aldosivi.

Insua describes his moment at Liverpool

Speaking about his time at Liverpool Insua said:

Those were three and a half beautiful years, I really enjoyed them. There a beautiful career began to take shape.

The player made his Liverpool debut at the age of 18 and described his career at Anfield as a beautiful phrase. The Argentine gave a lot of credit to the club, insisting that the Merseyside club helped him grow both as a person and also as a footballer.

The left-back was also asked about his former teammate Fernando Torres and had high praise for the Spaniard. Insua described him as an amazing goalscorer.

The English league strengthened him and gave him the best qualities, strength, speed, power. He adapted very quickly. It was a pleasure to play with him, he gave you all the solutions, he scored goals, held the ball, drew fouls.

Insua vowed that Torres and former Liverpool legend Gerrard were both a brilliant duo. Moreover, Insua talked about how Benitez made Torres a good player and help him to reach higher levels.

Insua remembered his years at the club and predicted that even if the clash is going to be tuff, Liverpool will come out on top.
