Liverpool interested in Insigne as FSG tempted to break the model

Liverpool have a certain age rule when it comes to transfers, but they should break this rule once for Insigne.

The Reds have been linked with the Italian in the past few transfer windows in an attempt to bolster their attacking options.

Lorenzo Insigne, the team captain and a local lad of Napoli, is nearing the end of his contract. With each passing week, the club’s and player’s prospects of reaching an agreement on a contract extension get slimmer.

With an opportunity to negotiate on a free transfer in just over two months, FSG must reignite their interest to sign the player.

A true Neapolitan, Lorenzo came through the ranks of the academy. After being on loan spells for three Italian clubs for three seasons, Insigne returned to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Since then, the player has established himself as one of the best wingers in Italy.

The Napoli captain has a contract until June 2022, and according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the player refuses to extend it.

Therefore, clubs around the world will battle for the 30-year-old and Liverpool will also be exploring their options to sign the Italian.

His signing won’t be easy for FSG, with Spurs, Man United, and a few MLS clubs are also interested in the Italian.

Should Liverpool opt for signing Insigne?

Just like Mo Salah, Insigne also likes to cut inside off the left and take his shot. With a quality player like Insigne, Liverpool can really benefit from his signing.

The ‘tiraggiro’ may not be the quickest but is feisty who possesses exceptional skill and vision. Insigne will surely fit into Jurgen Klopp’s system and will strengthen the attack.

The Reds currently prioritize the signing of a midfielder, but the FSG wouldn’t surely miss the opportunity of a free transfer.

Signing Insigne will increase attacking options for Jurgen Klopp. The German can rotate the squad, thus giving enough rest to the current wingers.
