Jurgen Klopp rules out the January loan move for Joe Gomez. Liverpool are not willing to send any of their players on a temporary basis next month. Thus, Jurgen Klopp insists that Joe Gomez will return soon and he just needs some more time.

Having shared a wonderful partnership with Virgil van Dijk as a first-choice centre back last season, the England international will be hoping to recover soon. Joe Gomez was struck with injuries that prevented him to just eight appearances this year.

His serious knee injury also had him miss the majority of the last term and the UEFA Euros with England. Looking at the amount of game time Joe is getting currently, he is also doubtful for the World Cup next year. Moreover, his calf issue has stopped his contest for the starting spot. However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp feels he should still remain at Anfield.

Currently, Joe Gomez stands behind Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate in terms of minutes for Liverpool this season. Even the academy graduates such as Neco Williams, Tyler Morton and Conor Bradley have had more game time than Gomez this season.

Klopp speaks on speculations of Joe Gomez’s January move away from Anfield

This has led to opinions rising as to whether Joe should move out on a loan this coming January? Jurgen Klopp is confident of keeping the number 12 back as his role could be essential in the coming months.

The Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said:

It has definitely not been the best year for Joe. He got injured, made a comeback and had another blow. But this is how it is and it can go. We did not rush his recovery from the tendon injury. There is a moment when you get back and start training again.

Joe is back now only for a week or so. Due to the circumstances he can surely be involved in the squad, but he still requires time. He needs time to train and to get back to where he was before.

A report from The Athletic claims that the Liverpool club agents are not hinting towards a busy January window. This is specifically to do with loans and the fear of Covid cases impacting their squad.
