Jurgen Klopp confirms Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s return dates

Klopp updates on Salah and Virgil van Dijk

Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk have been ruled out of Liverpool’s match against Southampton. Still, Jurgen Klopp insists they will be back for the Champions League final.

Liverpool hit a snag in their FA Cup final victory over Chelsea. With Salah, Van Dijk, and Andy Robertson coming off before the regular time.

There were no significant issues with the Scot, just fatigue and cramps. But there were concerns about Salah’s groin and Van Dijk’s calf problems.

When Will Salah and Van Dijk Return to action?

Inevitably, both players cannot make it to the match against Southampton. With only three days between Wembley final and the game, it’s unrealistic even to expect that.

Liverpool Gaffer provided their injury update during his press conference.

He stated “no question” that the pair would return for the May 28 match against Real Madrid in Paris. Klopp also believes the pair ‘might’ feature in the final matchday against Wolves.

The German said:

Will they be involved tomorrow? No,

Virg, definitely not. But that was pretty much clear before the game already, I thought this is the game [to miss] now. He really played a lot and then with Saturday-Tuesday again, it was clear [he would sit out anyway]. They are both OK. The target for both would be that they would be involved again at the weekend. Properly involved, bench or whatever, few minutes, a start, I don’t know, we will see that. [If they start] that would then be perfect for the [final], but if not we take each day afterward. Very positive, or no doubt, about the final. Pretty realistic about the Wolves game. But tomorrow, rather not.

The Reds are going to play their last two Premier League matches. And they would be hoping to give their all to keep ‘quadruple’ hopes alive. With City dropping points, the Reds would be hoping to take the advantage and put pressure back on the blue side of Manchester.
