Former Chelsea legend Didier Drogba hails record breaker Mo Salah

The former Chelsea forward, Drogba jokes that Mo Salah having an incredible form means that the Liverpool attacker will break all of his scoring records.

Last month, Salah broke Chelsea legend’s record of 104 Premier League goals. His hat-trick against Man United in October led him to eclipse Drogba’s long-standing record as the top African scorer in the PL. This landmark has now made him the highest-scoring African in Premier League history.

The Egyptian is thriving and has netted 16 goals for the Reds in all games this season so far. Drogba recently sat down with Mehwar TV and wasn’t shy to express his praise for the 29-year-old.

If he continues [like this] he’s going to destroy all my records! I want to cry,

Said the former Ivory Coast striker.

Moreover, the Blues legend believes that he’ll continue scoring wonders and there’s no stopping the Egyptian King.

What I’ve seen during training, and all his teammates will tell you, the quality was there. He just needed time on the pitch to show his talent and his quality.

Drogba on his time with Salah at Chelsea

Both the African superstars have shared a locker room together, who later went to Italy to get some game minutes. Unfortunately, Salah was unable to produce an impression at Chelsea during his two-year stay. He only struck two league goals in 13 games despite spending the majority of his time on loan at Fiorentina and then Roma.

Drogba gave his opinion on why the fellow teammate didn’t shine at Stamford Bridge;

When you look at the squad [Chelsea] had at the time, it was not easy to play, but what really got me attached to Mo is that he’s really nice, he’s really polite, even when he was not playing.

Salah’s heroics in Serie A encouraged Liverpool to sign him in 2017. Moreover, the Ivorian acknowledges that Salah has used his experience in the past to help him through a difficult period.

Apparently, Salah is yet to pen a contract extension for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are ready to give him a contract. He is currently preparing for the UCL clash against Porto.
