Brazilian goalkeeping legend Claudio Taffarel talked about his role as goalkeeping coach at Liverpool.
Added to the club in November, the legend splits his time between Liverpool and the Brazilian national team. The Brazilian was brought in to help improve one of the club’s biggest strengths.
A few months since joining, Claudio Taffarel opened up on the position and the role Allison played in his arrival.

Talking to Liverpool’s official website, Claudio Taffarel said
I think it was when Alisson was in Rome that he said to me, ‘If I have the possibility to bring you to my club with me, I will do it. So I have always had it in mind that I might work with Alisson.
Working with Turkish giants Galatasaray at the time of his appointment, Taffarel was not desperately looking for a change of settings. But Alisson then talked to Jurgen Klopp and head goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, and they decided it would be a good idea to bring him to Anfield.
Talking about what attracted him to Liverpool, Claudio Taffarel said,
The first time I heard from Jürgen I decided straight away to come here. Alisson always talked to me about Liverpool, about the ambience and that the people were very friendly.
His job at Liverpool involves not only working with Alisson’s technical game but also helping other goalkeepers. As, he also assists in developing Liverpool’s younger goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher.
The 55-year-old is also working with the promising young Brazilian Marcelo Pitaluga.
Talking about the difference in the Brazilian style of goalkeeping and the English style of goalkeeping, Claudio Taffarel said,
Brazilian football and goalkeeping is different to England. In Brazil, a lot of the work is on technical things like movements. This is my role with the senior goalkeepers and to begin teaching the younger goalkeepers.
