Injury update

Jurgen Klopp provided an important injury update on Liverpool’s first team during his recent press conference. Ahead of the EFL cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal, Klopp has a number of key players back in contention again.

Star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has returned to full training. Having tested positive for Covid-19 recently, Trent has returned to full training and is now in contention to play against Arsenal.

Klopp also confirmed the return of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The 29-year-old, who was also sidelined due to Covid-19, is now back and in contention for the Arsenal game.

Klopp however did add that striker Divock Origi and midfield maestro Thiago are still injured.

Updating on Harvey Elliott’s injury, Klopp said,

Elliott looks really promising, out on the pitch – didn’t train with the team yet

He also added that Harvey Elliott is not too far away from training with the first team and that from what they have seen so far the recovery process is going really well.

Talking about Scottish left-back, Andrew Robertson, Jurgen Klopp said that while he did pick up a knock in the 4-1 win over Shrewsbury Town, he is fine.

The German however did not update on the situation of Nat Philips. The centre-back had injured himself during the champions league versus AC Milan.

Other than the injury update, Klopp also spoke about Mohammed Salah’s contract.

The Reds manager said that Salah wants to stay and Liverpool want him to stay. He added,

That’s the point where we are and that these things take time, I cannot change.

According to Jurgen, the Reds are very confident about reaching a deal with the Egyptian forward.

Jurgen Klopp also talked about the exciting growth of Kaide Gordan. The 17-year old scored in the win against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.
