Liverpool star, Luis Diaz and his National team Columbia failed to qualify for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. The former Porto player expressed his disappointment through a social media post.
Columbia is knocked out of the World Cup qualifications as they were placed only 6th in the FIFA WC CONMEBOL table.
World Cup and Luis Diaz separated
Luis Diaz and his dream to play at the coveted FIFA World Cup is shattered. The Colombian national team’s efforts have gone in vain for this season.
Although a victory in their last game of the qualifications against Venezuela, it was not enough to get them through.
Luis Diaz had gone to social media to express dissatisfaction of not qualifying,
He went on to write,
Since I was little I dreamed of wearing this shirt and wearing it with pride in a World Cup. It hurts too much not to have achieved it.
I keep wanting to fight for this dream, on my part you will have my commitment and know that I will leave everything to achieve that goal. We will have revenge
With revenge on the player’s mind, he would surely look to channel this ‘disappointment’ into a ‘good performance’ for Liverpool.
Liverpool is still in contention for a possible “quadruple”
Disappointment for Liverpool fans
Liverpool fans were devasted earlier this week as Mo Salah failed to take his team to the World Cup. As Sadio Mane and Senegal got in through at Egypt’s expense.
Now, another bad news of Diaz falling short at the World Cup qualification creates more disappointment for the fans.
Unfortunately, this year they will not see Mohammad Salah currently one of the best footballers in the world.
Liverpool contingent at the World Cup
Current Liverpool squad players,
The ones who failed to make the cut and are most likely not be in their respective squads,
Mo Salah, Luis Diaz, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kostas Tsimikas, Joe Gomez, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott.
It surely is interesting for the fans to see their club players at the World Cup, but disappointing as well when they do not see them at the highest level.
