The Premier League title race and the quadruple bid came down to the final day of the season. But Liverpool’s comeback triumph wasn’t enough. Let’s have a look at the player ratings as Liverpool beats Wolves by 3-1 at Anfield.

Liverpool registered a win against the Wolves to keep to title hopes alive. But to no fault of theirs, City reclaims the English crown by registering an incredible comeback win against Aston Villa. City who were down 2-0 at 75th minute. Incredibly fought back and scored 3 goals and the next 5 minutes.

Anyways the Merseyside Men did their job. And these are Liverpool’s player ratings.

Premier League: Liverpool vs Wolves: Player Ratings

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Allison Becker (GK) – 7/10

He couldn’t do anything about the early goal. But he did make several vital claims soon after as Wolves continued to exploit huge gaps on the counter.

He had a few lovely one-on-one moments — the main question is why he was left so open!

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) – 6.5/10

He had several incredible moments on the ball, including whipping crosses. And periods when he looked like he could score on his own.

On the defensive side, Trent was caught up in the early emotions. And was repeatedly caught out of place when Wolves raided that flank on the break.

Overall, not bad.

Joel Matip (CB) – 6.5/10

Nerves? Tiredness? Joel did not appear to be stable or relaxed in the early phases. Moreover he seemed to struggle with the diagonals into the right channel.

He wasn’t the only one. He was often the recovering defender in the face of Wolves’ incessant raiding, to give him credit.

We had some excellent second-half clearances and cutouts. But we need to defend better as a team next week at the UCL Final.

Ibrahima Konate (CB) – 5.5/10

Due to poor timing, a goal kick was missed entirely, allowing the Wolves to score early on. He had some redemption when he was engaged in the buildup to the equalizer.

Given the wily movement of Karim Benzema, the more significant concern might be whether Jurgen Klopp suddenly decides he isn’t quite the right pick for the UCL final.

Andy Robertson (LB) – 8/10

From the start, he was in full sprint mode. Overlapping and crossing with regularity and exploding into the box at will.

Scored near the finish to cap a fantastic league season for the Reds overall. Just not quite enough to win the title.

Midfielders

Jordan Henderson (CDM) – 7/10

Had a lot of covering to do and did it well for the most part. Although he did find himself beyond the No. 8s and with no one in front of him early on.

In the second half, he made sure everyone was much more focused. still some of his passing was a little sloppy.

Naby Keita (CM) – 8/10

So good at receiving the ball in space and applying pressure to the defense. There was a blocked shot and some terrific exchanges between Mane and Diaz early on.

He wasn’t nearly as involved in open play in the second half. And he didn’t look like he – or the rest of the midfield – could keep up with the level of pressing required to keep Wolves at bay.

Thiago (CM) – 7.5/10

What an assist, mate! Yes, please, a backheeled nutmeg around the corner of his man to put Sadio out of his misery.

Unfortunately, that could be the end of his season. After leaving the game hurt just before halftime, moreover, it’s unlikely he’ll return for the UCL final.

Forwards

Diego Jota (RW) – 5.5/10

He puts in a lot of effort and gets involved in solid offensive phases. But he doesn’t appear like his usual self in the box.

Maybe we’ll look to him in Paris as an impact sub. It only takes a second for him to impact when he’s in his rhythm. And that’ll be enough.

He’ll undoubtedly be hoping for a more consistent year next term.

Luis Diaz (LW) – 8/10

It looked like we had the best route through for much of the game.

He is aggressive, deft, and powerful, moreover always hunting for opportunities to beat his opponent.

Although a couple of sighters could have gone in on any other day.

Sadio Mane (CF) – 8.5/10 – Man of the Match

Although he bobbled a left-footer into the ground. It was well-placed inside the near post and beat the keeper!

Never letting the defenders relax, he scored again after the break, only to be denied by an offside flag.

He is in excellent form as the Champions League final approaches. And that’s why he is our Man of the Match.

Substitutes

James Milner (CM) – 7/10

A strong second half. Given the injuries, it could lead to a surprise start in Paris.

Roberto Firmino (CF) – 7/10

Didn’t contribute much although provided an assist.

Mohammed Salah (RW) – 7.5/10

Back to the scoring charts.

This season, he is the Premier League’s joint-leading scorer alongside Son Heung-min. That’s it for the player ratings for Liverpool against Wolves. Paris awaits the Reds!
