Robert Lewandowski, the Polish striker who currently plays for Bayern Munich, took the award home. Current Ballon D’or winner Lionel Messi finished runner-up, while Salah finished third.

Salah had also finished third in 2018 when he last made the top three for the FIFA award.

During the period from October 2020 to August 2021, Salah not only scored 26 goals but also gave six assists for Liverpool.

However, Mohamed Salah was also emitted from the FIFA XI of the year. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski made up the front four in the eleven.

To add to Salah’s misery, he finished seventh in the Ballon D’or rankings.

Salah is one of the, if not the best player in the world right now and deserved to at least be in the best FIFA XI.

Mohamed Salah has recently been in the news regarding a new contract at Liverpool. Contract talks have been going on between him and Liverpool for some time now. In a recent interview, Salah said that he is not asking for “crazy stuff”, but the talks are still dragging on.

While Liverpool are confident that they will be able to sign a deal soon, this has created speculations over Salah’s future.

Interested clubs for the Egyptian include Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and PSG.

Salah is an important part of Liverpool and letting him go will be a big mistake on Liverpool’s part. However, with financial constraints, this might be a little difficult for them.

Liverpool fans will hope that Salah extends his stay and wins his first Ballon d’Or in the Reds jersey.
