Mohamed Salah is contemplating his options, With his contract at Liverpool set to expire next summer. While the reports suggest that Salah had already informed his close friends about extending. But it seems he has promised a move to Barcelona once his contract expires.
Mo Salah is one of the few Liverpool players whose contract nears its end.
Mo Salah joined the reds back in 2017 from AS Roma. And has been tearing up the Premier League. The Winger has won 3 out of 5 possible golden boots since his arrival. And has been one of the best players in the world.
Salah has been key to Liverpool’s recent success, with him being the most prolific of all the Liverpool strikers. While also dropping down and playmaking for the Reds.
With Salah being in the Elite form, the Reds want to keep the Egyptian.
And till very recently it was almost confirmed he wants to stay at Anfield on a higher wage.
While Reds were optimistic about Salah’s situation. Things might have gone out of hand.
It appears like Mo Salah won’t be extending with Liverpool.
Salah informs Close friends about future decision
Mohamed Salah told close friends that he was eager to devote his future to Liverpool. But then changed his mind once Barcelona offered him a transfer next summer.
His current contract will expire next summer. The Egyptian winger is contemplating his alternatives. Salah will remain at Liverpool next season, but it is unclear who will be his employers beyond that.
Salah has been negotiating a new contract with the Reds since last summer. But the two sides have been unable to reach an agreement as Salah demands a large pay increase. While Liverpool is hesitant to deviate from their wage structure. They remain hopeful that they can reach an agreement with him somewhere in the middle.
If Salah does not sign a new contract this summer and Liverpool does not keep him once the transfer window closes, they risk losing him as a free agent in a year’s time.
The attacker has been guaranteed a free transfer to Barcelona next summer. The forward’s hesitation on a new term at Liverpool is thought to be due to Barca’s verbal offer. Despite informing close pals a few months ago that he was ready to Pen a new agreement at the Merseyside club.
Salah confirmed staying at Anfield for the 2022-23 season in the pre-UCL final interview. Where he said:
In my mind, I don’t focus on the contract. I don’t want to be selfish at all. I said two months ago it’s about the team. It’s an important week for us. I’m just focused on the team and winning the Champions League again. I want to see Hendo [Jordan Henderson] with the trophy in their hands and hopefully, he gives it to me. I don’t want to talk about the contract now, I’m staying next season for sure, that’s clear.
Liverpool will hope that Jurgen Klopp’s recent contract extension, will persuade Salah and Sadio Mane to commit their futures to the club.
