Liverpool’s 24-man Champions League squad is out, but neither Naby Keita nor Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has made the cut.

The Reds’ European campaign gets underway on Wednesday with a trip to Napoli for their opening match in Group A. Following it, will be the matches against Ajax and Rangers.

Last season, Jurgen Klopp led his team to a second final. But it got over with heartbreak in Paris. And now, the Reds must set the groundwork for a third attempt at the European Cup.

The Reds have put 24 players on List A, which includes recently bought midfielder Arthur. The team was due to announce its squad for the group stages by midnight on September 2.

Names on List B include players under the age of 21 who have trained with the club for at least two years. These names are loose and may be verified at midnight before any game.

There will be room on List B for players Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott.

The team expects Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay, and Stefan Bajcetic to make their Champions League debuts in the upcoming season.

Notably, neither Oxlade-Chamberlain nor Keita were on the 24-man roster due to their ongoing muscular problems. On top of it, Klopp’s prediction that they would be absent “for a long’ was also the reason for their non-inclusion

The pair’s absence from the group stage, which lasts until the beginning of November, is a strong indication that a comeback won’t happen for a while.

Liverpool is the most successful English team in UCL history. They have already won 6 titles, with the last one coming in 2019. They would be hoping to extend their count to 7 and match AC Milan for the 2nd position.
