With four players guaranteed to miss out, Jurgen Klopp faces a tough decision when it comes to the Carabao Cup final.

With the Reds looking to win a domestic trophy after years of missing out, the Carabao Cup final is of paramount importance.

Liverpool face squad dilemma as Carabao Cup final approaches

Having reduced Manchester City’s lead to three points, Liverpool can still win four trophies this season. Against the European champions, Klopp will turn to his best players.

Klopp can only name 20 players for the game, which means 4 players are guaranteed to miss the trip to Wembley. Almost every senior player played a part in the club’s run to the final and it will be a very tough decision for Klopp.

24 players trained in Kirby on Friday, including youngster Jakub Ojrzynski.

Despite Diogo Jota not training on Friday, reports suggest that he should be fit to be on the bench against Chelsea. If he does, he will take Ojrzynski’s place in the squad. This still leaves Klopp with four omissions to make.

As of right now, Caoimhin Kelleher is the only guaranteed starter. However, unless Klopp decides to make a drastic change most first-team players are confirmed to play. These include Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Thiago, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson and Luis Diaz can fill the rest of the eleven.

It will be interesting to see who Klopp leaves out. Will it be Curtis Jones or Joe Gomez or Divock Origi?

However, the three have played a big role in Liverpool’s run to the final. Even Takumi Minamino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have played a big role in this run. This means either Harvey Elliot or Naby Keita can be left out.

Alisson will be on the bench for sure for Liverpool as the backup goalkeeper for the Carabao Cup final.
