Premier League Player of the Year 2021/22

Belgian Magician Kevin De Bruyne has won the PFA EPL 2021-22 POTY award.

Salah had been the favourite to win the award for most of the season. But a drop in form in recent months appears to have been his undoing.

Following Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Nemanja Vidic. De Bruyne becomes the fourth player to win the accolade multiple times.

It also marks the third consecutive season that a City player has won the accolade, following Ruben Dias last season and KDB the year before.

The midfielder expressed his gratitude for receiving the accolade for the second time. He said:

To win this award for a second time is an achievement that I am really proud of. There is so much quality in the Premier League and it is a pleasure to be nominated with so many other great players who have had incredible seasons for their clubs. I think my performances this season have been good and I am happy that I have been able to contribute with goals and assists throughout the season. Thank you to all of the staff, coaches, and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible.

EPL Young Player of the Year

Phil Foden became the first player to win the young player of the year twice.

The youngster has been important to Pep Guardiola’s Man City Team.

The 21-year-old has beaten the likes of Trent Alexander Arnold and Bukayo Saka, to win the award.

While both the players have had a great season. And Foden’s crowning is still justifiable.

It’s quite disappointing to see Salah not win the award. The Egyptian is the leading scorer as well as assist provider in the EPL this season. The Player showed consistency throughout the season.

And even if you remove Salah, many could argue Son was more deserving than De Bryune to take the accolade home.
