Following scans last week, Jordan Henderson will likely miss the rest of September after sustaining a hamstring injury in the 2-1 Liverpool victory over Newcastle.

A setback, Henderson joining an absurd list of injuries so early in the season, led Liverpool to act late in the transfer window.

On deadline day, the team swiftly finalized an agreement to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur on a season-long loan. This was after the captain was taken off against Newcastle halfway through the second half.

The midfielder underwent a scan to determine the severity of his injury. And the next day, medical personnel tested Henderson’s hamstring.

James Pearce of The Athletic reports that the problem is merely a slight strain. But Henderson is still likely to miss three weeks of competition.

He is now ineligible for the upcoming four matches against Napoli, Wolves, Ajax, and Chelsea. He is also very probably ineligible for England duty when the Three Lions will play Germany and Italy later this month.

By the time Brighton comes to town on October 1, Henderson should be able to return to the lineup. And Klopp will be hoping that his injury situation has dramatically improved by then.

Liverpool injury list apart from Henderson

Following his own hamstring injury, Thiago has already begun full training. And Matip and Jota both played in the 0-0 draw with Everton. Whether Carvalho will go to Naples for Wednesday’s CL opener is uncertain because of the dead leg he got in the Merseyside derby. But the Portuguese player won’t be out for long.

Having yet to play this season, Caoimhin Kelleher and Calvin Ramsay are close to making a comeback. And Ibrahima Konate’s return timeline is comparable to Henderson’s.

However, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been absent for a very long time. That’s why they were not part of the Champions League group stage roster at all.

There is a chance that Klopp will start Arthur against Napoli in Henderson’s absence, with Fabinho, Thiago, Harvey Elliott, James Milner, and perhaps Curtis Jones as his other alternatives.
