Andy Robertson has mocked Trent Alexander Arnold through an Instagram message after yesterday’s training incident.

Robertson mocks Trent

After scoring a fantastic goal in practice for Liverpool yesterday, Andy Robertson made fun of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Robertson totally committed to scoring a diving header in front of Trent’s hanging boot, as witnessed on the Liverpool FC Twitter page.

The left-back had three words for his full-back colleague on Instagram Stories following the practice: “Wanted. It. More.”

Complete dedication followed by humour at Alexander-expense? Arnold’s Robbo was the lone candidate.

Robertson on why he is the fan favourite

Robertson is adored by everyone at Anfield in part because of his willingness to risk his life for Liverpool.

He wouldn’t frequently be required to score a goal like this in a legitimate contest. But you could easily picture him doing it to prevent a goal at the other end of the field.

Kostas Tsimikas has been vying with him for the starting left-back position for the past year or so. The level of dedication shown here in practice will persuade Jurgen Klopp to keep the Scotland captain as his top pick.

In actuality, there is no excuse for him not to be. Duelling left-backs of the highest calibre are a blessing for Liverpool. But Robertson hasn’t often appeared to be giving up his position in that conflict.

Since this time last year, Tsimikas’ impact on the squad has multiplied immensely. The Greek is a very well-liked player on the squad and even scored the penalty in the FA Cup final in May.

Robbo is the best, though. You’d expect that will remain the case unless something rather significant occurs this season.

He’ll keep showing us all why he’s so popular with the manager and on The Kop if he keeps putting in performances like these.
