Mike Ashley’s 14-year spell as Owner of Newcastle comes to an end on Thursday, 7th of October 2021. As Saudi-backed consortium had completed a highly anticipated takeover of St James Park. While Liverpool and many other Premier League clubs were found opposing the Newcastle United takeover.

The acquisition was not welcomed by many premier league clubs. The remaining top-flight 19 clubs are preparing a meeting with the Premier League. As they want to understand the reason for the approval of the takeover.

The Daily Mail reports that: Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur strongly opposed the move. Meanwhile, Newcastle are already in touch with some high-profile players for the transfers after the takeover.

Liverpool’s Ownership as compaired to the Newcastle United takeover

Liverpool is not a team that spends heavily in every transfer window for winning the lavishly Silverwares. Liverpool has always been the club that makes a profit by selling players. And thus only invests that amount for buying new players.

Moreover, the Reds owners don’t add much to the transfer budget. This is the very reason why Liverpool are never in conversation to bring in the likes of high-profile players. The Reds model has always been nourishing the players and earning profit by eventually selling them.

After selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona in 2014 as the third Highest transfer fee at that time. Liverpool Signs 9 players Including Lallana, Lovren, Mario Balotelli, Divock Origi and Emre Can in that transfer.

While In January 2018, Philippe Coutinho was sold to Barcelona for a club record of 142 million pounds. The transfer helped Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool to do heavy investments that year in signing the finishing pieces of the Silverware team.

Liverpool Signed 10 players that year including Virgil Van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Naby Keita. A team crowned as Champions of England, Europe, and the World.

Thus, from the above instances, it is clearly visible that Liverpool owners i.e. FSG do not spend much as compared to the other clubs in the Premier League. And thus, now Newcastle United will also be joining the top-flight clubs in spending hefty fees on high-profile players.

Thus, Liverpool will also have to change their strategy in order to compete with Newcastle United and other clubs in monetary terms.

Liverpool in 2021 Transfer window

This August 2021 Liverpool Sold 7 players for 42.3 million and brought Konate for 36 million from RB Leipzig.

In spite of their title rivals spending this summer, Manchester City spending 100 million on Jack Grealish and thus registering the Premier league record fees. Meanwhile, Chelsea registering a 97.5 million Club Record fee to Sign Romelu Lukaku. And Manchester United Spending roughly 120 million on Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Christiano Ronaldo.

Ibrahima Konate was the only arrival this season to Anfield this summer. Liverpool Still sits second with one point behind Chelsea and one point above the defending Champions
