Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson will be able to play against Liverpool in their Premier League clash.

According to Liverpool Echo, Newcastle United Striker Callum Wilson will likely be ready for the match against Liverpool on Saturday night.

The England international missed the match against his former team Bournemouth last week after scoring the opening goal for the Magpies in the draw against West Ham United two weeks prior.

Alexander Isak spearheaded the charge against the Cherries in Wilson’s absence. Bruno Guimaraes will remain unavailable for Eddie Howe’s team against Liverpool. Since it is the third game of a three-match suspension for the red card he received against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.

Callum Wilson on his likely participation in the Liverpool clash

Wilson was talking in Footballer’s Football Podcast (via Liverpool Echo). He said he was almost ready to participate in the most recent game. Here is what he said:

“I was burning inside to go back there, to a club that has been so good to me. But then in training I felt some tightness.

That can happen when you’re working hard. We’d worked hard in previous games. And we train hard too, similar to how we play. I can’t take any risks any more.

Too often, I’ve been 80% fit, declared myself available to play and then ended up pulling up with something after 20 minutes. I’m not going to cross that bridge again.”

When viewed from Liverpool’s perspective, the game will benefit from their attempt to control the midfield area due to Guimaraes’ absence. Jurgen Klopp would be hoping for a repeat of the Reds’ midfield’s performance against Everton on Saturday.

We currently trail Newcastle in fourth position by nine points with a game remaining. Hence, with one game remaining, if we defeat the Magpies this next weekend, we might close the difference to six points.

This game presents a chance for Klopp’s team to win and keep up their momentum before the first leg of their Champions League last-16 encounter against Real Madrid. This is despite all the doom and gloom this season.

Wilson has contributed to Newcastle’s current success and chances of finishing in the top four this season with seven goals and three assists in 20 games in all competitions. His likely participation in the contest will benefit the Magpies. We definitely aren’t the favorites coming into this game.
