Neville And Carragher Agreed On Trent Alexander-Arnold Performance

After England’s Euro 2024 group match draw against Denmark football pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville discussed Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performance.

Harry Kane gave the Three Lions the lead early on but they were unable to keep the midfield cohesive which resulted in a dismal performance.

After just 53 minutes of play, Alexander-Arnold who had started in midfield was replaced.

Carragher said on X that England should play with more energy and pace in their lineup suggesting a 4-3-3 formation and benching good players like Phil Foden and Alexander-Arnold in favour of more dynamic players like Conor Gallagher or Kobbie Mainoo.

Lack Of Chances Created

When it came to creating opportunities and making game-changing passes Alexander-Arnold outperformed every other England player on the field even in spite of the team’s overall struggles.

In his defence, Ian Wright emphasized how Alexander-Arnold’s effectiveness was constrained by his teammates’ inaction.

The former Premier League player said,

“Trent is going to need movement up there, there is no movement up there

We’ll look back in 5-10 years and laugh how we couldn’t get Trent Alexander-Arnold in the team. Now Walker also needs to be in the team but I think we’ll laugh.”

In agreement, Gary Neville expressed shock at England’s failure to fully utilize Alexander-Arnold’s abilities.

He made the suggestion that looking back on this time in the future one might feel regret for not being able to use such a talented player on the team.

Crucial Game Against Slovenia

With the final group game against Slovenia looming, the stakes are high for England as they aim to secure the top spot in their group to avoid facing another group winner in the next round.

Gareth Southgate is expected to make changes to the lineup, and it remains uncertain whether Alexander-Arnold will retain his place.

The potential inclusion of players in their natural positions, like Kobbie Mainoo or Adam Wharton, could lead to a more cohesive and effective performance.
