Liverpool are reportedly confident about signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and have offered him a contract.

The 24-year-old midfielder is said to be the primary focus of Liverpool’s summer transfer window, and journalist Ben Jacobs states that the club is “feeling positive” about his potential arrival.

Mac Allister to Liverpool on a positive note

According to Jacobs, Liverpool are aiming to strengthen their midfield, with Mac Allister being their preferred target. There is also speculation about the possibility of Mason Mount joining the club, as several teams are monitoring his situation.

“Liverpool plan to strengthen in midfield and are instead looking at Alexis Mac Allister,”

writes Jacobs.

“My sources tell me they feel positive after approaching the player side. As previously reported in this column, there is also a belief that Mason Mount is a possibility, with a number of clubs monitoring his situation.”

Other potential targets of Liverpool

However, there is a word of caution regarding another potential target, Ryan Gravenberch. Although Liverpool have shown interest in the midfielder, it is suggested that the outcome may depend on Thomas Tuchel’s decision, as Bayern Munich currently does not want to sell the player.

As the season approaches its end, Liverpool’s summer transfer targets are becoming clearer. Mac Allister, Mount, and Gravenberch are currently the most likely candidates to join the club.

Another player heavily linked to Liverpool recently is Manuel Ugarte from Sporting. However, Jacobs pours cold water on these claims, stating that Liverpool are not among the clubs considering signing Ugarte. While there have been talks about a potential move for the midfielder, Sporting wants to keep him, but they are open to negotiations due to his release clause of £52 million.

The journalist for CaughtOffside further stated:

“There is a lot of talk about Manuel Ugarte moving this summer after some eye-catching performances this season. The first thing to stay is Ruben Amorim wants to keep the Uruguayan midfielder.

But Sporting are prepared to negotiate, so a summer move (even against the manager’s wishes) is very possible. And Ugarte has a release clause of £52m.”

He continued,

“Jorge Chiljane, one of Ugarte’s representatives, did fuel Liverpool links, whilst adding there are other interested parties.
And as Fabrizio Romano reports, three Premier League clubs are considering Ugarte with Jorge Mendes handling his future this summer.
But my understanding is Liverpool are not one of those clubs.
They have not advanced anything and the chances of Ugarte ending up at Anfield are being firmly downplayed by multiple sources close to the club.”

While it is common for clubs to engage in transfer market speculation, Liverpool’s reported interest in Mac Allister appears to be genuine. If Liverpool were to sign two midfielders this summer, it is expected to be Mac Allister and Mount. Gravenberch could be a potential third addition, but the final decision remains uncertain.

Ben Jacobs’ update provides encouragement for Liverpool fans, as he claims that the club feels positive about signing Mac Allister after approaching the player’s camp. Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the midfielder’s intentions, with some stating he wants Champions League football and others suggesting he is interested in a move to Liverpool.

Liverpool’s chances of signing Mac Allister may be influenced by their ability to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League. If they can surpass Newcastle or Manchester United, it could strengthen their prospects of acquiring the Argentine midfielder.
