Liverpool’s Premier League campaign under Arne Slot has been a resounding success, with the Reds leading the table for most of the season. A major driving force behind their title charge has been the phenomenal form of Mo Salah.
The Egyptian forward has registered 18 goals and 13 assists in just 20 league appearances, a staggering contribution that solidifies his status as one of the world’s best.
However, as Salah enters the final six months of his contract at Anfield, uncertainty looms over his future. Reports from journalist Gianluigi Longari suggest that Salah is in “very-advanced” negotiations with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. Longari stated on X:
“Al Hilal Club is in a ‘very-advanced’ state of negotiations with Mohamed Salah in view of next season. Nothing definite, but well-established dialogues.”

Al-Hilal, who recently confirmed Neymar’s departure, are keen to replace the Brazilian with Salah. The club views the 32-year-old as a marquee signing capable of surpassing Neymar’s impact due to his current form and global reputation.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Saudi sports figure Turki Alashikh posted a mocked-up image of Salah in an Al-Hilal shirt on social media, further igniting transfer rumors.
Future of Mo Salah hangs in balance
Liverpool’s management now faces a dilemma. The Reds are reportedly considering their stance on Salah’s demands while attempting to navigate a precarious title race.
Despite leading the league, Liverpool’s form has dipped recently, drawing four of their last seven matches. Arsenal, just four points behind with a game in hand, have been closing the gap.
Meanwhile, other key players, including Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, are also nearing the end of their contracts. Spanish outlet Marca claims Alexander-Arnold could attract renewed interest from La Liga in January.
Slot, addressing the media ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Brentford, will likely face questions about the futures of Salah and his teammates. Speaking on the situation, Slot remarked,
“We want to focus on the title race, but these talks are part of football.”
As Liverpool prepare for a tricky trip to Brentford, where the Bees boast one of the Premier League’s best home records, the Reds’ off-pitch uncertainties could threaten to overshadow their on-field ambitions.
