Michael Edwards appears ready to sign Fulham teenager Fabio Carvalho as reports suggest Liverpool are close to finalising their only January transfer.

The Reds have been linked with a number of names for the January transfer window. The long list includes Kalvin Phillips, Toni Kroos, Luis Diaz, among others. The latest is Fabio Carvalho from Fulham.

Liverpool are looking to finish the season on a high. Currently second in the league, 9 points behind league leaders Manchester City with a game in hand, they are due to face Inter Milan in the Champions League. Having reached the final of the Carabao Cup, they will also hope for a long FA cup run.

Fabio Carvalho set for a transfer to Anfield?

January has always been a tricky month for Liverpool. They tend to drop most points during this time. However, this year even without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane they have remained unbeaten.

With Salah’s contract talks still not finished, Liverpool might be looking at the future without their star player. Despite this, they still have not made any transfers in this window.

However, according to the Athletic, Liverpool are currently pushing for a deal for Fabio Carvalho. The youngster is currently enjoying a breakout season at Fulham.

The 19-year-old Fabio Carvalho has contributed to 11 goals in 17 league games this season. Five of these 11 goals have come in the last three games.

Amid Liverpool interest, reports also suggest that he has rejected a new contract from the Cottagers.

The reports suggest, he is being closely watched by sporting director Michael Edwards. If Fulham decides to cash in, Liverpool will sign him for a bargain sum in this window. Otherwise, Fabio Carvalho will only shift in the summer window, when his contract expires.

This will not be the first time, Liverpool have moved in for a Fulham teenager, with the latest being Harvey Elliot. Elliot, who has just recovered from a serious injury, has enjoyed quite a fruitful time at Anfield.

While a deal for Fabio Carvalho looks possible for Liverpool, reports suggest that all other deals would be outgoings. Thus, it will be Interesting to see what happens!
