Former Liverpool striker and now football pundit Micheal Owen is claiming Liverpool to overcome Inter Milan to a 2-0 victory at San Siro.

Six-time European champions Liverpool are up against the Scudetto holders Inter Milan in an anticipated Champions League tie.

Klopp’s men were one of three teams in this year’s competition who completed the group stage unbeaten with a 100% record. While the Nerazzurri finished second behind Real Madrid in Group D.

The last time both sides met was at this stage of the 2007-08 Champions League campaign, where Liverpool won 3-0 on aggregate.

For the first time in a decade, Inter Milan is competing in the knockout rounds of the Champions League. While they face a mammoth task in overcoming one of the tournament favorites Liverpool over two legs.

Inter faces a tough challenge on Wednesday but their home form should give them confidence. Internazionale Milano have lost just thrice out of 30 competitive matches at San Siro across all competitions since the beginning of 2021.

Michael Owen predicts Champions league Round of 16 tie between Liverpool and Inter Milan

Initially, Liverpool were drawn to RB Salzburg before the draw had to be done again. Former Liverpool man Owen backed the Reds to win against Salzburg.

Meanwhile, with now Liverpool facing Inter Milan Michael Owen is backing them to claim an impressive 2-0 away win against Inter.

Writing in his preview column for BetVictor, Owen said:

Going to the San Siro is never easy, but the fact Liverpool won here earlier in the season will help them.

Inter have had a good season domestically but did lose both matches to Real Madrid in the Group Stages.

I think they aren’t quite on Liverpool’s level and could struggle to deal with the Reds on the break. I can see a 2-0 Liverpool win.

Inter Milan were last crowned European champions back in 2010. The Nerazzurri side still remains the last Italian team to win the Champions League.
