How Liverpool could line up for the Merseyside derby against Everton

Liverpool starting line up for Merseyside derby

The Merseyside derby is up on the cards for Liverpool as they get ready to lock horns with their neighbours Everton.

Meanwhile, the Reds fans were recently pleased with a midfielder making his way to Anfield. The Everton clash might be too soon for Arthur Melo but he will definitely make his presence feel in the coming weeks.

Let’s have a look at how Jurgen Klopp might line up his team against the Blue half of Merseyside.

Darwin Nunez will be back for Liverpool from a 3-match suspension when the Reds make a short trip to the Goodison Park for Saturday lunchtime’s fixture.

However, the German boss might have to reconsider his thoughts on starting the Uruguayan because of his temperament and the heat of the derby clash.

Moreover, Bobby Firmino is having a good run with back-to-back goals in the previous 2 fixtures. Thus, this might help the Brazilian to retain his place for this fixture.

The injury list for Liverpool on the Merseyside derby day

The Reds might have enough options at the front but it is the midfield that needs a variation. With captain Jordan Henderson limping off with a hamstring injury during the midweek match, Klopp will have to figure out the right trio in the middle of the park.

While Henderson joins fellow midfielders Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita on the sidelines. For Calvin Ramsay, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Ibrahima Konate, this match will also come too soon.

Diogo Jota might be ready after reporting to practise on Thursday, but he won’t likely be used right away.

While the Reds search for answers to their flimsy backline, Klopp does have Joel Matip and Curtis Jones back at his disposal. The former may start for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Fabio Carvalho has scored a crucial goal coming off the bench in the Reds recent battle with Newcastle. Thus, the former Fulham attacker might get a start against the Toffees.

Another youngster who has impressed Klopp is Harvey Elliott. The teenager seems to have settled quite well. And thus, the 19-year-old is expected to retain his place in the middle of the park.

However, a certain amount of rotation is feasible because Klopp might be considering next week’s Champions League opener with Napoli.

Liverpool’s probable starting lineup:

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Carvalho; Salah, Firmino, Diaz
