Liverpool tried to battle past Brighton & Hove Albion but the Reds failed to do so as it finished 2-2 at Anfield. Let’s have a look at the match highlights to know what happened when Liverpool welcomed Brighton at the weekend.
The kick-off saw an early chance for both teams. While Liverpool were the one who took on the advantage by converting their chance into a goal. As the captain leading from the front put the ball back of the Seagulls nets from a beautiful curling shot. With this, Sadio Mane made it a 2 goal cushion for the Reds tucking in a simple header from an excellent cross.
Meanwhile, Brighton had their chances through the first half but it was a crossing effort from Enock Mwepu which turned into a long ranger beautiful goal. Thus, the whistle blew to finish the 1st half at Liverpool 2-1 Brighton.
The second half saw a poor display from the Reds. Brighton put on an energetic performance to cancel out Liverpool’s one-goal advantage. And thus, they were successful in doing so. The Reds never really look like scoring in the second half. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp might be happy to get a point out of this game considering their 2nd half performance.
Next up for Liverpool is a UEFA Champions League clash. The Reds will be getting ready to welcome the Spanish champions Atletico Madrid at Anfield in the midweek. This will be the 4th matchday of Group B and if Liverpool wins this one they will be on their way in the round of 16 of the competition.
