Premier League – Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham: Player Ratings

Liverpool Tottenham player ratings

Liverpool dealt with a heavy blow to their Premier League title hopes, as a draw against Tottenham, who puts them on points with City with the latter having one game in hand, lets’s have a look at the player ratings.

It was Son Heung-Min who opened the scoring for the visitors in the 56th minute of the game. Luis Diaz’s strike cancelled out the goal and levelled Liverpool in the 74th minute. Even though there were no goals in the first half, the game was interesting and both teams had their chances.

Liverpool’s game was of very high intensity throughout, they had kept Spurs on their toes the whole 90 minutes.

The Red’s title hopes have received a huge dent, and one could practically say that it is not going to be Liverpool’s year in the Premier League.

This not only is frustrating for both the teams but at the same time celebrating for two other teams. Manchester City and Arsenal were the ones who benefitted from this draw, for their PL title and UCL qualification aspirations respectively.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspurs: Player ratings

Goal Keepers and Defenders

Alisson Becker (GK) – 6.5/10

One decisive moment for the Brazilian had come in the 42nd minute when he had put off Hojberg’s effort wide. Son’s goal was unstoppable and Ali couldn’t really do much in that.

Other than that the Brazilian had nothing to do, having to face only 3 shots on target including the goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) – 7/10

Trent showed how good a defender he is in the first half an hour of the game, as he had it completely under control. Although, one can argue that the right-back didn’t put much effort in the build-up to the lone goal conceded.

However, Trent was a live wire again in passing his magical crosses inside the box. He is definitely living up to the tag of an All-around and complete player. He had a good game apart from that one-off miss.

Ibrahima Konate (CB) – 7.5/10

The big man was at his very best, showing his physical prowess throughout the game. The defender was simply the best in the air, strong, and had no competition.

He didn’t misplace a single pass and found his teammate whenever he wanted to. Konate could probably be the starting player in the premier league as well from now onwards.

Virgil van Dijk (CB) – 7/10

The Dutch defender seemed in complete control of the opposition. Didnt have much to do but excelled in whatever little work he had.

The player also got unlucky in the first half, as his header bounced off the woodwork.

Andrew Robertson (LB) – 6/10

The player was nowhere to be seen when Son strikes in the first goal of the game and was way too behind of the Liverpool box.

Soon entering the second half, Andy was replaced by Konstantinos Tsimikas in the 64th minute of the match.

Midfielders

Jordan Henderson (CM)- 7/10

The Reds skipper had arguably one of the better games in the past few weeks. He was instrumental in moving away from Harry Kane’s dangerous ball in, was in good spirits the whole time he played.

Diogo Jota replaced the Liverpool captain in the 65th minute of the match.

Thiago Alacantara (CM) – 8/10

Thiago maintained his magic in midfield by not letting go of a single ball. Maintained his position very well, but was not effective much in the second half though.

Fabinho (CM) – 8.5/10

The controller of the midfield and ruler of the game.

Not a single ball slid past him, had the Spurs players by his wands, all in all a great game for the experienced player.

Forwards

Mohamed Salah (RW) – 8/10

Got everything done for the team, whether his cut-ins with the left foot or his passes inside the box. Was valuable in the last-minute defending too, to stop the counterattack.

Luis Diaz (ST) – 8/10

Had to do the hard running throughout the game, and rattled in the equalizer. A performance worth Man of the Match.

Sadio Mane (RW) – 6/10

The Senegalese had a decent game and few valuable passes in the final third.

But other than that was quite silent and didn’t have much to do.
