The Reds booked a place in the Semi-final of the FA Cup competition after beating Nottingham Forrest in a crunchy fixture. Liverpool have now set a Wembley date against Man City for the Semis.

Player Ratings Nottingham Forrest vs Liverpool

Goalkeepers & Defenders

Alisson Becker (GK) – 7/10

Even though a domestic cup game, Klopp chose his first choice Alisson to take goalkeeping duty for the game. The Brazilian went untroubled in the first half as Forrest’s shots were off target.

But escaped from a miskick pass. Moreover, Steve Copper’s side’s penalty appeal for a possible foul by the goalkeeper was turned down.

Joe Gomez (RB) – 8/10

Trent Alexander Arnold has a hamstring issue and missed the tie. Defender Joe Gomez came in to fill the right-back spot and produced a fine showing in his less comfortable position.

He tested Forest goalkeeper Horvath on a couple of occasions. Even though the quality of balls wasn’t the level of Trent’s but his attitude and intention to drive forward were definitely impressive.

Ibrahima Konate – 7/10

The Frenchman has produced another strong performance. And surely have to say what a signing he has been for Liverpool.

Physically he was strong and moreover dominant in the air. He looked like a commanding figure.

Virgil Van Dijk – 7/10

Effortless performance from the big centre-half. Virgil’s defending is like a Rolls Royce car. There isn’t much debate about it.

The Dutchman has been back to his very best in 2022 and he was again good on Sunday. But his one lost aerial duel could have led to the Nottingham Forrest score, but nevertheless, it was another impressive day at the office.

Kostas Tsimikas – 6.5/10

The Greece international was having a tough time in the evening. His deliveries were inconsistent and aimless, but in the 78th minute, he did deliver an inch-perfect cross to Diogo Jota to set the winner for the visitors.

He did have the last laugh.

Midfielders

Fabinho – 7/10

The Brazilian was crucial in keeping things knitted in the middle of the park. The defensive midfielder was diligent and disciplined through the game prior to his substitution.

Another fine showing by Fabinho, a job well done.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 5/10

It’s really sad to see Ox not been a regular starter in Liverpool shirt. A very talented midfielder with a very good pace and excellent work rate.

Injuries have definitely have been a curse to the Englishman.

His performance summed up his time at Anfield. In the game, he showed great tenacity and looked like a real creative threat in the first half but had a quiet second half.

He eventually got subbed off in the 64th minute of the game.

Naby Keita – 7/10

Another midfielder rated very highly on arrival to Merseyside but hasn’t lived up to the expectation. Some individual brilliance can be seen from time to time in Naby’s performance.

Similarly, The Guinean was good under pressure and had a particularly brilliant first half. He showed a great appetite for pressing opponents and defensively worked hard.

Later, he was subbed off.

Forwards

Roberto Firmino (ST) – 7/10

The Brazilian back in the starting lineup was very good to see. But definitely could have registered a goal to his name but was guilty of missing the 1v1 chance.

He ran a lot. But his dropping off into space and linking play throughout is so pleasant to watch. That’s what he does best.

Harvey Elliott (RW) – 5/10

The teenager took Mo Salah’s place in the right-wing. A promising player with a great future lying ahead for sure.

But surely has enough work to be done from his side to guarantee a place in the starting eleven. Elliott definitely struggled in the right-wing role where he hasn’t featured lately.

He was later subbed off in the 63rd minute.

Diogo Jota (LW) – 6.5/10

Similar to Tsimikas, Jota was having a bad day at the office but salvage his impressive goal-scoring intake and lifted his below-par performance by scoring the goal.

The Portugal international hasn’t been in his best upon his arrival from injury lately. Against Forrest, he lost the ball far too easily or gave away the ball away.

But he netted the only goal of the game and helped the team reach the semis.

What a strange player Diogo Jota is.

Substitutes

Luis Diaz (RW) – 6/10

The Colombian wasn’t much of an influence but wasn’t through lack of trying.

Thiago Alcantara (CM) – 7/10

The Spaniard showed his class, kept things tight, and made sure things kept moving.

Jordan Henderson (CM) – 6/10

Captain got settled as the game progressed, and brought plenty of energy.

Takumi Minamino (RW) – 5/10

Following his introduction onto the pitch worked really hard in the right channel.
