Liverpool booked their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating Shrewsbury town 4-1. They face Cardiff City at Anfield in the next stage of the competition.

The Reds successfully overcame the first hurdle in the FA Cup journey this season. Thanks to wonderful goals from Kaide Gordon, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino that sealed the deal for Klopp’s men to prevail and enter in the next round.

We could see plenty of new faces on the pitch representing the Reds and they gave their utmost. Preparation for this game was unusual because of the Covid-19 situation currently. Therefore, the touchline saw a mixture of youngsters and senior players getting the job done.

Thus, Liverpool secured their place in the fourth round for the sixth time under Jurgen Klopp. They are now up against the Championship side whom they met in April 2019 where the Reds prevailed 2-0. Liverpoofc.com gives us more information on this tie.

FA Cup fourth round fixtures dates

FA Cup fourth round fixtures dates

The fourth round fixtures will happen at the weekends on February 5 and 6, 2022. This will take place before Liverpool host Leicester City on February 10. After the winter break, the postponed match against Leeds United will also take place during this time.

The fourth round of the FA Cup sees no replay or a second leg. In case of a tie, the match will be decided on that day through extra time or penalties. This decision was taken bearing the outbreak of Covid among many clubs and divisions.

The trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita may return if their countries drop out of AFCON early. However, their availability for the fourth round is a doubt and the Reds will have to prepare without them.

The quarter-finals of the AFCON will take place on January 29 and 30. Thus, we have to wait and see what happens in due time as the Reds carry on with the season.
