‘Nonsense and Inventions’ – La Liga star denies regret over Liverpool move
Liverpool fans, if you’ve been wondering about the latest Martin Zubimendi news, here’s a scoop to clear things up.
Recent reports suggested that the Real Sociedad midfielder might be regretting his decision to stay put despite Liverpool’s strong interest.
However, according to reliable sources in Spain, that’s all just “nonsense and inventions.”
Martin Zubimendi stays loyal: No regrets over Liverpool move
Over the summer, Liverpool made a significant push for Zubimendi, willing to meet his £51 million release clause to bring him to Anfield.
However, the Spanish midfielder chose to remain at Real Sociedad, the club where he’s spent 14 years of his career. This decision was seen as a testament to his loyalty, even though Liverpool’s offer was highly attractive.
Recent claims suggested that Zubimendi might be having second thoughts due to Real Sociedad’s poor start to the La Liga season. The club has struggled and sits 16th in the league, which led to speculation that Zubimendi was eager for a move to Liverpool.
However, Mikel Recalde, a trusted journalist who covered Zubimendi’s transfer saga, has firmly refuted these reports.
Speaking exclusively to DAVEOCKOP, Recalde said, “It’s September, Martin Zubimendi decided to stay at Real and he’s going to play the whole season here. Just because the team started badly isn’t going to change anything, since it’s the club of his life, his loves, his feelings.”
Zubimendi himself has also dismissed any rumours of regret. During the recent international break, he reaffirmed his commitment to Real Sociedad, stating,
“My friends are clear that whatever I decide [for my future] will be the best. There is no pressure whatsoever. Real Sociedad for me is my life, I think I have spent half my life there. A lot of what I am is part of la Real, it is my life.”
So, Liverpool fans, it looks like Zubimendi’s story is far from over. He remains committed to his current club for now, and any transfer talk will have to wait until next summer.
