Even with a few accolades under his wing, Erik ten Hag is going to stay as the manager, but his legendary predecessor won’t anymore. Recently, Manchester United have announced that they will be removing Alex Ferguson from his dual post-career role.
After this sudden decision, fans will be happy to know that he will still be out there as a ceremonial figure for Old Trafford. In the upcoming home and away matches, you will surely spot this legend keeping an eye out there.
Manchester United finally waive Alex Ferguson goodbye
While Alex was still the manager, Liverpool faced their arch rivals 63 times in total. Under his reign, his team managed to pull off 30 wins, 19 losses and 14 draws.
Still, Manchester United finally cut all official ties with the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. He was one of the most prominent figures that Old Trafford ever got. However, even after this historical decision, the club keeps their doors open for Alex. He is free to join all future games and Man Utd wants to keep him as a non executive director.
According to The Athletic, Manchester United kept Alex Ferguson with a multi-million dollar annual contract. The former Manager retired from his post at the end of the 2012-13 campaign. After that, Ferguson became the Club Director and Global Ambassador. Taking from his retirement till now, he has accumulated £20 million.
The new owners, INEOS have led Manchester United to terminate Alex Ferguson from his ambassador role. They are probably walking the road of cutting excessive costs. Through their ‘amicable’ decision, INEOS is ‘exhausting all avenues to reduce costs’.
However, Ten Hag manages to keep his job in the club. With only 3 victories in 11 games of this season, Erik is just clinging to his post at this point.
