Manchester City Liverpool’s Premier League rivals are looking at Martin Zubimendi as a replacement to Rodri according to reports.
One of Manchester City’s key players Rodri is out for the season due to an ACL injury suffered against Arsenal. City are reportedly willing to do anything to sign Martin Zubimendi to fill the gap left behind by Rodri’s absence.
Is Manchester City going all in for Martin Zubimendi?
According to Spanish outlet Relevo:
“Zubimendi has become a target for the Manchester (City) team.
“The sports management (at Manchester City) wants to take advantage of the fact that the midfielder has still not signed the renewal and, therefore, maintains a clause of 60 million”.
Relevo also added that Manchester City are willing to do anything to sign Martin Zubimendi.
Manchester City have used Kovacic till now to replace Rodri, City sees Zubimendi as a long-term asset as a backup for Rodri. Liverpool were looking to sign Martin Zubimendi in the summer, but the midfielder decided to stay at his boyhood club.
Zubimendi was Liverpool’s answer to the No.6 position, but Liverpool’s failure to sign him gave way to Ryan Gravenberch to show his potential. If Manchester City succeed in signing Martin Zubimendi it would be a huge blow for Liverpool.
Zubimendi rejected Liverpool’s loyalty to his boyhood club, if City’s pursuit becomes successful it will be a huge black mark on Liverpool’s management.
